Although the export volume of Italy fabrics to China is decreasing overall, Silvio Albini, chairman of Italy textile exhibition Milano Unica, is still confident of the Chinese market.

Annual session Sixty Silvio Albini is famous for its textile industry in Italy. In addition to serving as Milano Unica, he also serves as chairman of Italy alliance fabric manufacturer, member of Management Committee of cotton and flax foundation and member of Steering Committee of Italy fashion fashion alliance. It was also under his leadership that Italy's top textile fabric exhibition Milano Unica came to China from 2012.

The time for Milano Unica to enter China is very subtle. Publicly available data showed that Italy's textile exports fell by 3.8% in the first 5 months of 2013, due to the impact of the global financial crisis. China, as the second largest exporter, has also been affected to some extent.

Entering the 2014, due to the restriction of high-end consumption, the average price was even more cold than that of Italy fabric which was more than 5 times more expensive than China's export fabrics to Italy. In the first half of this year, the total export volume of Italy fabrics to China decreased by 13.1%, of which gross wool fell 27.1% and combed wool was reduced by 13.7%.

Regarding this Silvio Albini admits that the "disappearance" of some of the top niche consumers in China has brought a certain impact on the export of Italy fabrics, but "there are still a lot of Chinese consumers who have very strong spending power, and their pursuit of quality is even higher, so maybe this is still a good thing for us, at least it brings the market back to healthy reason".

In this case, the role of Milano Unica becomes particularly important. There are nearly 5 small and micro textile enterprises in Italy. They all want to strengthen their ties with the Chinese market. The role of Milano Unica is "bridge".

Silvio Albini does not hide its optimistic expectations of the Chinese market. In an exclusive interview, he said that in the long run, although the European economy as a whole, including Italy, was not very prosperous, it also affected exports to China, but he was still very optimistic about China's fabric market and its potential for development in the future.

"There are two main reasons, one is the large scale of the Chinese market, the second is the upgrading of China's consumption."

Silvio Albini clearly remembers that Italy men's wear fabric has been in China for more than 20 years. The field of application mainly focused on men's coats and began to cover personal clothing such as shirts and underwear. Now it has already covered the field of casual wear, and even women's fabrics and accessories have begun to emerge in the Chinese market.

He called this trend of casual clothing "more delicate leisure" and regarded it as one of the signs of changes in Chinese consumers: "consumers are also starting to pursue fabric quality, creativity and design, which has been seen from the popularity of previous fabric exhibitions."

according to understand The number of exhibitors of Milano Unica in China has increased from 95 to 127 this year. The number of professional audiences in the exhibition area has reached 50% growth rate.

Silvio Albini even said that China's textile fabric market has begun to integrate with the international market, and Milano Unica has to do further cohesion and constantly improve its market level.

"Today's Chinese textile market can be said to be an opportunity and challenge for Italy's textile fabrics. We need to pay more energy to explore this valuable market and accurately provide products that consumers need." Silvio Albini indicates.
